There does seem to be - as I think you're implying - a lack of awareness that XP is applied in many different ways in different environments. For example, we had a recent discussion on the xpAdoption list about encouraging the adoption of some practices - "levels" of XP - in companies that need to become more agile. Quite a bit. Practices have been renamed and reinterpreted. Discussion is still going on about what some of them mean, sometimes heated. Some authors have added new practices, while inventor has taken to saying that the practices aren't that important. The change continues.
