OK, here's my conclusion from this game (and your presentation at bayXP)

A person who is offered a solution will, in general, not seek to apply the
solution if:

* The solution is to a problem that they don't perceive as relevant to them
  * They may not have the pain
  * They may not feel the pain
  * They may not want to acknowledge the pain because to do so would lead to
greater pain

* The solution, as offered, is perceived as:
  * Not a good solution to the problem
  * Causing more or different kinds of pain: e.g.:
    * Too hard to do
    * I don't know what would happen: might be painful
    * Violates how I look at the world

* I don't know how to apply the solution
  * Probably masks something else: I don't know how to do X, even though X
would be good, means that I don't want to learn X because...
