I'm not Todd, but I read the first few paragraphs of the paper just now and
I appear not to have had the same reaction that you did. Do you have energy
to say more about what you disagree with? I can guess that perhaps it
relates to thinking of a _product_ backlog more as a generic "inbox of
things we believe we need to do". Am I warm?
