OK, I just reread the fixed-width web page keyholes
chapter in light of this discussion, and I wonder if
it would be more effective if the paragraphs about
control were jettisoned, and the ones about displays
becoming simultaneously smaller and larger were moved
earlier in the chapter. It's a lot easier to close
your mind to a argument about control than to refuse
to acknowledge that web sites already are viewed on
hardware and at resolutions that you probably didn't
think about. You can keep the "plus, it looks stupid"
comments if you like, especially if you're attached to
the part about eating your vegetables, but that should
be supporting data.
