Thanks for posting these.   I was too lazy to hunt them down for myself.

This context helps.   I still think the other guy is overreacting, to wit:

I don't think it's clear at all, but the guy's first point about the
netiquette of asking a question in your subject line is spot-on.    If
nothing else, people just tune out the subject line when they read
emails.   If you must, reproduce the question from the subject line
verbatim in the text.

IMO the whole brouhaha could have been averted if Dan had made his
second post on there, #5 in the thread, "Well, the seminal articles
are by Martin Fowler," his first post instead.   Ask the question,
include a sentence or two explaining what it is or why you're ignorant
of its applicability to C++, and be done with it.

It only takes 30 seconds more to make post #5 rather than post #1.
Agonizing over the response took much more time.  It's time well-spent
in the sense that it's beneficial for all of us to discuss tactics for
more effective communication, but it's not necessarily time well-spent
for Dan if he's trying to get a straight answer.
