FWIW, you may wish to note that Linux core is firmly C; Linus has some
strong opinions on this.

Linus is definitely showing his ass in that thread-- you might debate
whether it was warranted.

I make no comment.  I just mean to help you in your goal: if you wish
to contribute to core, you want C, not C++.
