Re: F5 D39 / BIGIP 1000 hardware fault

Since it's out of warranty, I'd do two things. 1st open it up and check
to see if you have any loose cables. 2nd try swapping out the Compact
Flash card with another one. If you just moved it, my gut feeling is
that there is a cable loose and bouncing about in there.

Hi - hope someone can help me with a hardware problem that has arisen
since one of our F5 BIGIP 1000's moved data centres. It was working
perfectly fine before the move, but now when you power the unit on it
simply sits with this on the console attached to it:

System is booting, Please wait .....


I've left it like this from 5mins to over 12hrs and nothing, it just
sits there.


The unit is well out of warranty and with no support on it so can't go
to F5 for help. The netboot feature still works so have also tried to
perform a fresh install of BIGIP v9.0, 9.01, 9.1 & 9.13 - ALL these
versions work on BIGIP 1000's as per the release notes and I've
installed these before on this hardware without issue. Each time I try
to install the process starts off as expected but then fails with errors
that it can't find the harddrive or any install slots - well the 1000's
don't have a hard drive, just 512mb of compact flash.

I've captured the output to screen and am hoping someone might have seen
this before, be able to shed some light on this, or just let me know
whats going on?

And that's it, all I can do is reboot and the whole cycle starts over.
In the console window, the title bar just states "FATAL Error: cannot
find a hard drive"
