Most LB are great for simple layer 3/4 LB like this but I think OP was looking for an LB that does similar LB magic at layer 7 that something like NetScaler does for HTTP. I would never buy something expensive and feature rich like NetScaler only to do MySQL LB. If I already have one doing my HTTP LB then it makes sense. It's great for HTTP LB but for Layer3/4 LB it's overkill and it does nothing at Layer 7 for MySQL except intelligent monitoring.
