Re: Quick questions about f5's iRules

I agree with John here, what you do in your iRules and how you do it
makes a huge difference in performance of the rule. I had changed the
conditional structure I used in a rule here based on feedback from the
F5 Devcentral forums (where the F5 developers and others hang out,
awesome resource) and saw a significant improvement in performance of
the rule (although I didn't actually measure it). There is a lot of
talent and experience on those forums, and they are open to all. I know
they have saved me a lot of time and headaches in the past.

In my past observations as a QA Engineer for the F5 products in our
organization. We only noticed a slight degradation in performance using
iRules, in milliseconds or fractions thereof. This is said with a
caveat. The more complex the iRule the more degradation it gives. Using
RegEx in an irule dogs it down horribly.  Unfortunately I can't send you
any data as it's internally confidential.
