How might one differentiate between PairProgramming and XP,
or TDD and XP? To me your question is similar.

I think the spiral model is first and foremost a model for
a software lifecycle.  And XP is a methodology (or method if
you prefer) that utilizes a spiral model, as well as utilizing
many other things. I think a development lifecycle model and
a development methodology are different things, and that the
latter employs the former plus a whole lot more.

At its core, the spiral model says develop in an iterative and
incremental fashion driven by risk analysis/mitigation. XP
and agile methodologies felsh this out a whole lot more,
and add practices specific practices for how/when to do it,
and principles/values to guide in the how/why of applying
those practices.
