RE: [AM] Article of Interest in CIO Magazine

I suspect that the field called "Systems Engineering" is not the only approach that considers such tradeoffs.  I also suspect "Systems Engineering" does a lot more than just consider such tradeoffs.
 
I suspect that applying even a Systems Engineering approach will not be much more successful than what we do now without sufficient communication and cooperation between all the concerned parties.

		I have spent most of my career trying to make this point. Too often, systems are built under too much pressure to "deliver the goods" as rapidly as possible, using a process that will not support that sort of effort. If this is to be the way software is built, some effort must be put into finding a design (i.e., engineering  a system) that minimizes the difficulties in achieving reasonable maintainability and sustainability.
