[AM] CMM vs Agility? (was Re: Why Traceability?)

Mark Paulk, who was one of the primary authors of v1.1 of CMM
has been saying for the last few years that he feels that the
eXtreme Programming agile methodology is most definitely level
3 CMM when followed by-the-book. See more info at

I also am aware of some projects which are purportedly
employing agile methods and which are part of CMM level 4 and 5
organizations. I'm sure they are doing some practices that "pure"
XP/Agilists might consider "BDUF" as per their organizational
culture, but they have nonetheless managed to adapt to align
with the organization and still be agile. The IXP "extension"
to XP allegedly has much success at helping organizations do
this sort of thing with XP (see www.industrialxp.org)
