I have often seen a spreadsheet with columns for how likely it is to
happen, how much it would hurt if it happened, and a rank that is the
product. Sort by rank, worry about the top ones most. Or much more likely
put the spreadsheet in a drawer and never see it again.
RISK LIKELIHOOD SEVERITY RANK
Goofy Manager 0.5 7 3.5
Some folks love this because we did math and got numbers and numbers don't
lie. We looked at risk earnestly, call the meeting a success, get back to
work. Please resist! Use your brain!
Now on the useful side, here's a very cool map of risks to management
patterns that might help:

I'll also mention a neat definition of or maybe the measurable symptom of
risk (wish I could attribute it correctly) as uncertainty in an estimate.
If you look at a chunk of work and say "I don't know how long this will
take because ..." you found a risk. I always used to say a risk was any
threat to the schedule, but this says it in a more precise way. Identify
the uncertainty and drive it out with one of them management patterns.
