I think the variety of topics/toolkits you covered in the publicly
available draft certainly helped me begin to understand the mind set
(and made me want to buy the book). This was the case due to my
familiarity with some of the particular toolsets, essentially you
passed the 'pick a random topic you know about and look up what the
author has to say about it' test I use when looking for good books to
buy. By covering several Toolkits its like casting a wide net hoping
to catch different people with different chapters, I think this is a
better approach for an introductory book than one that covers only one
single area in more depth.

One of the main interest in the book I have, is applying the mind set
gained from reading it to image related tasks. In particular the part
about avoiding brittle tests is familiar to my situation.

For us the idea of two images being identical is not nearly as
important as visually identical (often a much easier task to achieve
:-) This is particularily important when refactoring for optimisation
purposes, producing an almost identical image in half the time is a
trade off we certainly like to take.

We also use similar concepts for some of our statistical fitting
functions.

I certainly learned some new concepts/approaches even from the draft,
so you should feel your risk in my particular case paid off.

Kevin
