I suspect that if you want 3d via python, PyGame (with PyOpenGL[2]) would be the best (portable) bet, but I've not used python with GL so this is all supposition on my part (I guess it all depends on whether you want "native" widgets, you could always use wxWindows aswell, its available on most platforms).

but you also need all the widgets.  I don't believe pygame supplies any
of that ?  For the linux version, I really want gtk (it would be nice to
also have qt), and for the windows version, i'd really like a native
windows look.  That is why I came to anygui, but it doesn't look like
anygui supports creating an opengl window.
