I take it this was (partly?) aimed at me;)

I will do some testing with the other backends, (ie, I agree with you 
on that point). but I really do want to do some native carbon/cocoa 
stuff - just because I want to contrast OSX with BeOS, more than 
anything else.

btw, at this stage BeOS is coming out ahead...except for the lack of 
apps - and the lack of a machine for me to run it on.
