I'm happy to report that Cheetah 2.4.1 is out the door :)
    http://pypi.python.org/pypi/Cheetah/2.4.1

The changes included in this release are:
  - --quiet flag added to `cheetah` to silence printing to stdout (abbeyj)
  - Refactoring to minimize the amount of forked code for Python3 (rtyler)
  - Template.compile() will no longer create class names with numerous leading
underscores (rtyler; reported by Kirill Uhanov)
  - DirectiveAnalyzer (cheetah-analyze script) added to report directive usage in templates (rtyler)
  - Older LaTeX docs converted to rst for Sphinx (rtyler)
  - Prevent #raw blocks from evaluating $-placeholders and escaped strings (karmix0)
  - New tests added to verify PSP behavior and other untested internals (rtyler)

This will be the last release of the calendar year 2009, and what a year it's
been! While I've only officially been the Cheetah maintainer for around 7-8
months, my work with Cheetah started on January 5th, 2009, so I'm going to call
it a year :)

In the past year Cheetah has seen over 340 commits by 6 different committers!
In addition to all those commits we've released *ten* new versions of Cheetah,
(to give you a sense of perspective, 2008 saw only 7 commits and zero releases)
I'd like to take the opportunity to thank everybody that's contributed this
year:
   - Jean-Baptiste Quenot
   - James Abbatiello
   - Mike Bonnet
   - Arun Kumar
   - Doug Knight

And of course, everybody who's been quite patient with me on the mailing list :)

I'm looking forward to 2010 and a new decade for Cheetah, I hope you all enjoy
your holidays and have a happy new year!

Cheers,
-R. Tyler Ballance
