Pycrypto AES CFB implementation

Hello, I've been playing around with the Pycrypto AES implementation and am quite impressed. One question however, regarding CFB mode: how come it's so slow? It's 12 times slower than any of the other modes according to by benchmarks. Looking at the source, I can see that the implementation is 8-bit CFB but still, according to AC, p.209, CFB's speed should be the same as the block cipher. What's going on?
