Especially for free accounts, GitHub is certainly not being appropriately compensated for offering a 6 sigma service. This fact is also true of whatever service is currently being used to host the psycopg2 website and repository - no one is making any guarantees that that won't go away either. > * You shall defend GitHub against any claim, demand, suit or proceeding > made or brought against GitHub by a third party alleging that Your Content, > or Your use of the Service in violation of this Agreement, infringes or > misappropriates the intellectual property rights of a third party or > violates applicable law, and shall indemnify GitHub for any damages finally > awarded against, and for reasonable attorney’s fees incurred by, GitHub in > connection with any such claim, demand, suit or proceeding; provided, that > GitHub (a) promptly gives You written notice of the claim, demand, suit or > proceeding; (b) gives You sole control of the defense and settlement of the > claim, demand, suit or proceeding (provided that You may not settle any > claim, demand, suit or proceeding unless the settlement unconditionally > releases GitHub of all liability); and (c) provides to You all reasonable > assistance, at Your expense. > > No licence on earth helps you out of that kind of clause. GitHub and services like it are not protected as a matter of law as a common carrier, so they need to put a clause into their agreement with you that effectively provides them the necessary indemnity. I'm curious as to how exactly you expect someone to offer a BitBucket/GitHub/SourceForge-like service without a similar clause in their terms. I don't see any particular reason *to* move to GitHub, but I also wouldn't see any problem with it - it's just a different thing. As for the OP, they didn't really provide any particularly good reason to make the move, and imo, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. -- Nick _______________________________________________ Psycopg mailing list Psycopg-IAPFreCvJWPBWskQ1e/[email protected] http://lists.initd.org/mailman/listinfo/psycopg
