Spyce is stable, feature-complete and bugfree as it is, so
lack of new development is not really a problem, unless
you require constant novelty to keep yourself from getting
bored in a technology.  If you look at it in hindsight,
change is actually a pain in the neck... ;-P !

That said, I also do get the urge for novelty every so often, and
after looking around, also came to the independent conclusion that
Mako would be the most suitable successor to Spyce.  Like Spyce,
it seems to require very little additional relearning beyond the
vanilla Python experience.
