Cannot start Spyce 2.1-2 web server

On a Slackware 10.2 distro using Python 2.3.4, I can
start the Spyce 2.0.3 web server just fine, but am
getting the error shown below with 2.1-2.
Doing an import thread on the Python command line seems
to result in a normal response (e.g. nothing happens).
