Unfortunately (*) the free version of Wing IDE does not include the debugger shell "Debug Console" which you can see in my screenshot as "Debug Probe". I find that this shell is a must for developing GUI code as it allows to develop interactively. The free version of PyCharm includes a debugger shell. On the other hand it even lacks the "highlight occurences" feature that Wing and Notepad++ have (called "Smart Highlighting" there). (*) Also, software development costs money and the pricing policy of JetBrains very much feels like price dumping. From looking at Eclipse, VS Code, Spyder and Eric, I found that they are not for me... For quickly viewing or editing I use Pythonwin most of the time, as I'm using a shared Python installation on many machines which includes win32 and Pythonwin.
