It's not about code structure. The generated applications are not usable.

When I tried IDLE a long time ago, wx applications did not work at all 
as IDLE was running the code to be debugged in the same GUI event loop. 
Not sure whether the separation is now better, but if it works outside 
IDLE, I don't see a need to change things. There are better debuggers.
