Is it possible to set the USB interface on the EEG-SMT to be a generic
device that is not a COM port?

I've written a Java based EEG reader in Linux for Stefan Jung's EXG2, and
I'd like to also use the EEG-SMT. The EEG-SMT does not show up in a USB
device scan, so I'm not able to discern the vendor and product ID.

I don't have a lot of experience in writing device drivers, so apologies in
advance if this has already been covered.
