Electrode Socket Wiring

I should first note that I am a novice, and know next to nothing about wiring. I purchased all of my materials from Olimex, and scrounged the cabling and miscellany from various sources. The electrodes (active) that I purchased have 3.5 mm plugs. All of the instructions on the OpenEEG website refer to using mini-XLR sockets, but I am assuming that I should ignore that and use 3.5 mm sockets, rather than some sort of 3.5 mm-to-mini-XLR converter. My confusion is mostly regarding wiring the sockets: I understand that there are two electrodes per channel. Each channel has 3 pins, one of which is labeled positive, another negative. A 3.5 mm socket connects to 3 pins, so, from my thinking, there are two possibilities: 1) Each socket is only wired to one pin. If this is the case, which connector is that pin wired to? 2) The wiring is split so that both sockets are connected to all three pins. I still do not understand which pins are wired to which connectors in this scenario. This confusion also carries over to the DRL, in terms of pins and connectors. I greatly appreciate anyone who can shed some light on this matter.
