Hi Sam,

for the Olimex-EEG-SMT:

non-DLR:

The point ("peak", German: Spitze) of the plug is +5 Volts as power supply  
for the Olimex active electrodes.

Next (middle) pin is Signal from electrode.

Next (last) pin is Ground = cable shield.


DLR:

The point ("peak", German: Spitze) of the plug is nothing (no connection)

Next (middle) pin is Signal output from DLR-amplifier, feed this to  
passive electrode.

Next (last) pin is Ground = cable shield.



I took this from the schematic, which you can download from the  
Olimex-side.
