I finally took the time to try to understand the technique for measuring the impedance of the electrode-to-skin interface. It is generally considered critical that you get a nice and low impedance at each electrode and that the impedance is similar between all of your electrodes. I've been helping to develop the OpenBCI EEG system, so I focused on how the ADS1299 chip (which is the core of OpenBCI) approaches impedance monitoring.
