Pretty cool, Chip, and a great write-up. As far as I know, that's a novel method--an external stimulus that you can attend to, to choose an action from a set of actions. It occurs to me that detecting a stimulus could be more resistant to noise, if you had time-varying stimuli whose signature could be sync'd up from a bit of deconvolution math. I'm not saying that's easy--I'm just thinking about how to further de-correlate the noise and be more confident that the signal you're deriving comes from the stimulus. Well done, I hope to hear more about your experiments later.
