Dipping my toes

Hello everyone!

This is my first time experimenting with EEG, but I believe I am a fairly
accomplished hacker, tinkerer , maker and free software enthusiast.

I would like to experiment with openEEG in the context of neuro-driven
audio synthesis.

My first steps would be folliowing:

   1. Buy EEG-SMT from Olimex
   2. Buy 4pcs EEG-AE from Olimex
   3. Buy 1pcs of EEG-PE from Olimex

Is this the quickest way to get started? Do i need anything else?

Then, when i plug it via USB, will it act as a serial port so i can then
parse
the signal with C/C++ or others?

I have read that it sends packaged information (was it 17 bytes?); where
can I find documentation
regarding this struct and the signal flow in general?
