Problem running mpb-mpi

Hi,
I am having difficulties running MPB on MPI.  When I try to run for
example mpb-mpi diamond.ctl > diamond.out (diamond.ctl taken
from /examples), the calculation starts and always hang at:

Solving for band polarization: .
Initializing fields to random numbers...
elapsed time for initialization: 0 seconds.
epsilon: 1-11.56, mean 6.243, harm. mean 2.12302, 62.5488% > 1, 49.6496%
"fill"

meep-mpi works without any problem on the same system and starts its
output with:
Using MPI version 1.2, 2 processes

This message is missing in the output file of mpb-mpi if that helps.

Any help appreciated.
