How can I define the lattice structure?

Dear Steven and MPB’s users,
It is OK when I define the polygonal shapes (example: hexagonal shape) in square lattice by using a set of overlapping blocks (each block with the basis vectors), but it is not OK when I define the polygonal shapes in triangular lattice, because in triangular lattice, there are a set of basis vectors:
                            (basis1 (/ (sqrt 3) 2) 0.5)
                            (basis2 (/ (sqrt 3) 2) -0.5)

Could you give me some suggestion about that?
  I thank you in advance,
  Sung Park Lee
