Why don't you do what configure says?

That's the point: There is no gtkextra-2.0.pc in these directories, it is=20
in /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig. So I would consider to set PKG_CONFIG_PATH to=
=20
exactly this directory and nothing else, as it should search the standards=
=20
location anyway...
