True, it doesn't have Cite While You Write with OpenOffice, but you can drag and drop citations and later on EndNote can scan the file to format the references. Also, if you use OpenOffice, you might prefer Zotero or OpenOffice's forthcoming enhancement to its current bibliography feature. Marsh Feldman
