Hello David, :: -----Original Message----- :: From: [email protected] :: [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of David Wilson :: Sent: 31 October 2004 01:12 :: To: [email protected] :: Subject: [gpl] IPTables - Unix script and Smoothwall :: :: :: [Resending this. No response first time and I'm not sure it got out...] Yes, it got out, this is the third time we've seen it. I suspect that you didn't get any replies because this isn't really a Smoothwall issue. I'm not a gamer so I don't know what you plan to host behind this. Perhaps some more details about you goals would be useful. :: :: Hello.... :: :: I have a unix script below. It has been provided to me by :: someone out in the :: wicked wide world and was not coded to run on smoothwall. It's :: intent is to :: setup packet forwarding/routing rules. The script is :: syntactically correct :: and does run. Not really a glowing commendation but Smoothwall deals with wicked things...:-) If you run this on your Smoothie you may well break it. (see above!) :: :: What I want to know is, Will it work on smoothwall, and will it have the :: desired effect. [I have edited the external ip address to preserver the :: identify of the innocent] :: The best answer to the first bit would be 'probably' (best guess). As you don't specify exactly the desired effect is you're in a bit of a grey area. Looking at the script and output, it does do what you suggest. My personal opinion would be try it and see what happens. Print the iptables list before and afterwards then compare the two for unexpected holes. Next challenge for you is to determine where you put a call to this script inside rc.firewall.up :: :: [this e-mail has a bit of line wrap in it, sorry about that. :: Makes it a bit :: difficult to read] It reads OK - :: :: :: - David :: <SniP>A load of script _______________________________________________ gpl mailing list [email protected] http://lists.smoothwall.org/mailman/listinfo/gpl SmoothWall Stash - Buy Our Stuff! http://cafepress.com/smoothwall
