Hmm...

Can you ping your Smoothie from you Windows box?  By default, it should 
respond to ping, however, if you enabled "Block IMCP ping:" in 
networking>advanced, it won't.  Does your Windows box obtain it's IP address 
from your Smoothie's DHCP service?  Double-check that your Windows box's 
network settings are up to snuff.
