I could not ping it before from a windows box and did not have block icmp ping but have since enabled that as I am on cable and it was filling up the logs with junk. The windows box gets the ip from the smoothy's dhcp service as does the linux box. Every thing works as expected exept that it seems I can only connect to the firewall from my linux box.
