Thanks Kev but the windows firewall is not enabled and I tried adding 
smoothie to the trusted zone like you suggested but still no worky.
I have also released and renued the ip several time to see if it would 
help but still no go.
I'm going to try one more thing though,  I'm going to remove networking 
all together from one of the windows boxes and start over and see if 
that has any effect.
