It turns out that the VIA chipped PCI to USB 2.0 I was using in the PCI slot 
was causing this on any 3000 Series Cobalt I used including a Qube 3. 
Lockups are very common with the Via chipped cards as I searched the 
internet. I think the NEC chipped ones would be in order here.
