You are quite right my memory must be failing :(  The Alix board only has 
256  MB of memory.

OK, I had 4 MB set for the cache and logging enabled (default?).

I'll reset these to your suggestions and set makegraphs.pl  back to normal 
timing and see if I am still getting problems.
