PayPal is looking for an Application Security Researcher to help build the next generation of security technologies for web applications. This individual will assess, define, and promote application security at PayPal and across industry initiatives. This position is part of the PayPal Information Security team and will work closely with Software Development teams.
 
Primary responsibilities will be:
 
    * Lead Research on browser security models

    * Research new application security attacks and countermeasures

    * Develop prototypes of security protection mechanisms for browsers and PayPal software to implement and prove application security ideas

    * Conduct web application security assessments

    * Participate in the development, review, and update of application security standards

    * Work with PayPal’s SDL group to improve the security of PayPal developed applications
          o Research new development techniques
          o Research new development, languages, testing methodologies, and frameworks to improve the security of PayPal applications. 


JOB REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------------
Candidate shall have published original research in the areas of application security, web application security, or browser security. Candidate should be capable of conducting original research in application security, drafting and creating internet standards, and achieving consensus between diverse groups.
 
Must Have:

    * Detailed knowledge of browser security models and implementations

    * Detailed knowledge of all core web protocols and languages (HTML, Javascript, CSS)

    * Strong web application vulnerability assessment skills.

    * Strong development skills in at least two languages. 

    * Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

    * The ability to effectively communicate complex and detailed concepts to others.

    * Ability to build and maintain constructive working relationships with a diverse community (in and outside of technology); ability to effectively communicate (both written and verbal) with and influence both technical and non-technical audiences.

    * Ability to earn the trust and respect of colleagues both in and outside of the Information Security team.

    * Unquestionable integrity.
