Department Description    The Motorola Security Operations Center is currently seeking an individual with a strong security background to join a team of professionals delivering quality security services to a variety of top-tier international clients. We are a Fortune 100 company with sales over US$36 billion in 2007, a global leader in communications technologies across many business lines. Our Security Operations Center (SOC) provides 24x7x365 security support for our customers.   
  
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations    The Security Engineer on our Security Projects team is responsible for a wide range of project-oriented security tasks including creating and maintaining security monitoring strategies, defining and improving procedures, customizing our security monitoring software, writing software and scripts, delivering training to our Monitoring and Analysis team, and generally improving the effectiveness of our SOC. 



JOB REQUIREMENTS

Specific Knowledge/Skills    The members of the Security projects group must have the ability to act independently of management and possess critical decision making skills. Although no travel is required, off-hour work or standby support may be required in this role. 

An ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Understanding of security concepts including such as firewall, log monitoring, SIM and intrusion detection (IDS) technology
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as TCP, IP, UDP, ICMP, HTTP, etc.
- Proficient with one or more programming or scripting languages such as PHP, C#, Python, Java, etc. and ability to learn new languages
- Understanding of database concepts including SQL and relational database design
- Strong Analytical skills
- 2 or more years of full-time hands-on information security experience
- Excellent report writing skills
- Project management experience is a plus
- Experience with multiple operating systems
- Experience coordinating incident response efforts
- A bachelors degree, preferably in an engineering or IT related field
- Security certifications from SANS ISC2, Comptia, or other

**NOTE** .Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.

- 24/7/365 security operations center environment working in a secured area
