--------------------------------------------------- SECURITYFOCUS JOBS - NEW OPPORTUNITY --------------------------------------------------- JOB DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------- Position: Sr. Security Engineer Location: Redmond, Washington, United States Type: Permanent F/T Closing Date: 2008-10-04 Senior Security Engineer Business Online Services Risk Management is dedicated to reducing and managing risks for Microsoft’s Business Online Services. The BOS Risk Management Operations team is currently looking for a dedicated and experienced security engineer who is willing to take on the challenges of a new and growing business. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required to succeed in this role. The ideal candidate will be an expert in how things get done in IT, driving issues to closure and identifying solutions for BOS Risk Management clients and customers. The candidate must be capable of proactively engaging clients for maximum effect, resolving security-related issues before they become policy exceptions. Finally, the individual in this position must be capable of interfacing with customers during sales engagements and for ongoing security support. Responsibilities will include key contributions in the following areas: • Responding to detailed technical security questions from infrastructure, application, and sales teams. • Performing security design reviews to evaluate security and compliance controls against policy and best practices in complex infrastructure and application designs. • Ensuring that consistent direction regarding security and compliance are clearly communicated to internal Microsoft teams and customers. • Documenting and formalizing security engineering practices and processes. • Developing, evaluating, refining, and documenting security engineering engagement processes in order to provide a consistent support and customer experience. • Demonstrating leadership skills and innovation through the development of new processes and tackling complex problems in order to support the BOS business. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Candidates must possess the following qualifications: • Strong leadership skills, people management experience, and strong drive to execute & deliver high quality results. • Detailed technical understanding of multiple Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint Services, Windows Server platform, WSUS, SMS, and ISA Server. • Thorough understanding of security best practices including, but not limited to, networking, infrastructure, and application level security. • Familiarity with common network, host, and application security vulnerabilities. • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate directly with enterprise customers and executives. • The ability to work as part of a team and when necessary the ability to work with minimal supervision and in a self-motivated and self-directed manner. • 4+ years of experience as a network administrator, systems administrator, or senior operations engineer. • At least 5 years of technical security experience including network, host, and application security controls implementation or management. • Sales and/or direct customer interaction/support experience with large corporate customers including communications with upper and executive management. • A general understanding of common regulatory control frameworks and legislations.
