This role is designed for a seasoned network security operations professional who has begun to step into the people management part of their career but has not left their hands-on technical skills behind. The candidate who best fits this role will have stronger technical skills than managerial skills but they’ll have a desire to continue growing their managerial skills. The person this job reports to is passionate about his work as a Director over Security and Risk Management. You need to be passionate about your chosen profession as well. This strategic leader is highly metrics driven and as a result, will expect the Security Operations Manager to deliver to agreed upon objectives. This role leads a team of three full-time security engineers and contractors as needs arise. The Security Operations Manager plans, coordinates and implements security operations and develops and implements both tactical and strategic processes supporting incident detection, reporting and prevention. This position is responsible for developing and integrating security operations metrics reports and procedures and will coordinate security incident activities. On-Call responsibilities should be expected. Responsibilities connected to this role cover network and operating system security for office desktop networks and production data centers. Responsibilities include network vulnerability scanning, vulnerability management, security review of firewall change requests, review of system logs and intrusion detection events and more. This is a hands-on technical security management position. Relocation is paid. Travel could be up to 15% domestically. JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Requires a BA/BS and 5-10+ years of full-time infrastructure experience in a high-availability, enterprise-class ecommerce / web / Internet production environment. Candidates must demonstrate significant depth in at least one of the following areas: Network Engineering, Windows System Administration, UNIX / Linux System Administration or Database Administration. At least 3+ years of full-time experience in information security is required. This is a hands-on technical management position that requires significant technical depth in at least one of the following areas: network engineering, Windows system administration, Unix/Linux system administration, or database administration. In addition to demonstrating technical depth in one of the above mentioned areas, candidates are expected to demonstrate: Sound knowledge of Linux and Windows platforms; Sound knowledge of infrastructure design principles, standards and frameworks (COBIT, ITIL, etc.); The ability to perform security reviews, risk assessments, vulnerability assessments and to deliver mitigating actions and recommendations; Sound understanding of network protocols, CISCO WAN Protocols, TCP/IP, LDAP Technologies, VPN Technologies and more; Very strong project management skills including evidence of delivering projects to completion; A desire to grow into a highly skilled manager of people who can present and defend ideas in one-on-one settings and by way of presentations to executive management. Exposure to these specific technologies is required and/or desired: Windows (2000, 2003, XP) RedHat, Solaris 8 and 9, Cisco, Checkpoint, F5, RSA / ACE, SAN (StorageWorks) and NAS technologies, Apache, IIS, Tomcat, WebSphere, SSH, SSL, IPSec, LDAP, SNMP, SMTP, NetBios, HTTP, etc. Desired certifications include: CISSP, SSCP, any GIAC (GCFW, GCUX, GCIA, GCIH, GCIA, and GCWN).
