--------------------------------------------------- SECURITYFOCUS JOBS - NEW OPPORTUNITY --------------------------------------------------- JOB DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------- Position: Security Consultant Location: Reading, , United Kingdom Type: Contract Closing Date: 2008-10-24 Cyber Security Analyst (Reading) Security Clearance: DV Rate: £380 per day (neg) Key Accountabilities • Managing output from network security management system • Monitoring activity on corporate networks for compliance against RMADS • Identification of external intrusion into corporate networks • Damage limitation initiation in the event of unauthorised activity identified • Support the development of the Security Intelligence picture • Formal reporting of analysis, actions and conclusions Key Responsibilities • Tune the network security management system to optimise balance between actionable data and false positive triggers • Monitor and analyse data produced in security management applications • Initiate response to positive triggers in accordance with formal procedures • Produce reports based on output from network security management systems • Build behavioural models and trends of network activity Behaviours • Support members of the broader team and give consideration to their limitations and abilities • Listen to others and give consideration to their views or opinions that would benefit the business and its goals • Work effectively with others and maintain a positive attitude to inspire and motivate JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- Essential Experience: Relevant experience, preferably in a proactive security role in a large commercial company, Government or military environment with exposure to security monitoring, auditing and investigation. • IT & Information Security principles and standards • An understanding of general security approaches, including security audit, investigation and incident response • Technical knowledge relevant to the work of the team • Experience of operating systems, networking, firewalls and monitoring tools (such as Arcsight) • Demonstrable analysis capability • Able to communicate effectively • Good presentation skills and the ability to operate under pressure • Tenacious and able to defend conclusions • Special Requirements DV clearance • High level DSE, high level keyboard use Qualifications • HND/C in relevant subject or equivalent experience • Qualification or certification in information security related discipline CISSP/CISM/CISA/MSc would be an advantage Candidates must be authorised to live and work on the UK Candidates must hold Security Clearance or be able to attain UK Security Clearance CONTACT --------------------------------------------------- Application should be via email, CV and accompanying letter in the first instance.
