--------------------------------------------------- SECURITYFOCUS JOBS - NEW OPPORTUNITY --------------------------------------------------- JOB DESCRIPTION --------------------------------------------------- Position: VP, Information Security Location: Baltimore, Maryland, United States Type: Permanent F/T Closing Date: 2008-10-20 Vice President of Professional Services/Vice President of Consulting Ciphent, Inc. has an immediate need for an experienced leader with a demonstrated track record of success to serve as the Vice President of Professional Services/Consulting. The role of the Vice President of Professional Services/Consulting extends beyond the traditional technical and operational aspects of this position. The selected candidate will lead company-wide performance and service improvement initiatives by concentrating efforts toward client satisfaction, best practices, process flow, quality assurance, and cost reduction. Reporting directly to the CEO, a person working in this role will work cross-functionally with our Operations, Sales & Marketing, and Human Capital offices to build our Consulting Team by winning new and repeat business, as well as attracting and retaining talent. The VP of Professional Services/Consulting will use various methodologies and tools to supply the vision, creation and execution of delivering superior services that are on time and within budget for a demanding client roster. This role will be responsible for all aspects of Ciphent’s Consulting Team and will be measured based on P&L, utilization, cost of operations, top line growth, intellectual capital growth, and margin. Successful candidates will possess intimate knowledge of complexity and challenges surrounding at least one of the following security technologies: McAfee Anti-virus/ePO, IntruShield, SCM, Citadel, and Foundstone, ArcSight, LogLogic, Symantec, Ounce Labs, SourceFire/SNORT, Nessus, Juniper/Netscreen, 3Com TippingPoint, Sophos, and CheckPoint. This position will be located at Ciphent’s Headquarters outside of Baltimore in Linthicum, MD. A breadth of creativity, experience, and latitude is expected. Only those candidates who possess at least a Bachelors Degree and 8+ years of experience in IT Professional Services or IT Consulting Services industries will be considered. Candidates must be willing to travel up as necessary, with expected travel to be 50%. What will I be doing? • Identifying, implementing, refining and measuring critical business processes • Identifying client opportunities • Developing and facilitating Ciphent’s Consulting Practice growth plan, Consultant Development Plan, and continuous learning objectives • Creating proposals, reports, marketing and sales materials • Contributing to recruiting efforts by writing job descriptions, generating candidate leads, conducting technical screens and interviews • Closing out engagements • Identifying cross and up-sell opportunities • Collecting, analyzing and interpreting both qualitative and quantitative data to identify key strengths and substandard areas • Achieve utilization, project revenue and project profit objectives • Building on Ciphent’s Professional Services Division and helping grow its Sales, Marketing and Human Capital initiatives • Managing all Consultants to ensure that project deliverables are met on time, per specification and within budget across a number of engagements that may vary in scope, budget, complexity and priorities • Optimizing utilization rates while ensuring Consultant satisfaction by keeping Consultants happy, challenged, and motivated • Analyzing business issues; developing and implementing solution frameworks and recommendations • Aiding in awareness of standards and best practices, as well as enforce these standards • Identifying new growth areas • Effectively interacting and collaborating with all levels of Management, as well as present and prospective clients, partners, and employees • Improving, communicating and maintaining Ciphent’s quality standards • Contributing to business development by marketing to Ciphent’s suite of Security solutions to prospective and current clients • Overseeing necessary activities for generating, cultivating and managing client relationships • Managing consulting practice work flows • Employing operational support tools including PSAs (Professional Services Automation) for process improvement and optimization • Driving Thought Leadership • Participating hands-on for engagements, as needed • Traveling as needed, anticipated travel is up to 50% JOB REQUIREMENTS --------------------------------------------------- What do I need to have to apply? • Previous experience in a growing a consulting or professional services business unit • Minimum 8 years of subject field experience • 4-year bachelor degree (technical degree preferred) • Masters Degree in Computer Science or Masters of Business Administration Preferred • CISSP, MCSE, CNNA/CCIE, McAfee/Symantec, certification preferred • Must have either served as a Thought Leader or supervised a team of Thought Leaders • Must be eligible for a security clearance; an active US Government security clearance is preferred • Current knowledge of security threats, solutions, security tools and network technologies • Experience mentoring, inspiring, and growing a Consulting Team • Experience working in a demanding and rapidly changing environment • Proven ability to work with people at all levels of an organization • Exceptional project management skills • Insight into clients’ business needs, operations and processes • Familiarity with a variety of security concepts, practices, and procedures. • An solid understanding of information security and compliance regulations • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Superior problem-solving skills • Experience with client interfacing situations and projects • Knowledge and experience with security product installation and upgrades • The ability to teach and train about network use and software skills • Proficiency in making presentations • Proficiencies in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, and MS Visio.
