Ok, I found a white paper at: /usr/ports/security/nessus/w-nessus-1.2.5/nessus-core/doc/ntp/ntp_white_paper.txt The README in the "ntp" directory says: "Note that NTP was not well designed, and suffers from several flaws. The developement of the Nessus 1.1.x series will start with a new, nice and clean communication protocol" Am I to assume that an effort is underway to re-design the Nessus communication protocol? Hmmm! I didn't see much in the Nessus list archives about this. Is this a new effort just getting started? Or has it been ongoing for a while? Who is the person heading up this effort, and where can I get an indication of the progress of this effort? It looks like this white paper is just what I want. I need time to read it more carefully, and I might want to post some questions about it later. But as I develop my client, I don't want to have to make massive changes.... The studying continues....
