One distinct disadvantage to the current spam levels is all the work one might do to tweak anti-spam filters to minimize the load. One true in place of a false and spam got delivered to my approvals folder while valid messages got delivered to my spam folder. Sigh... Before y'all give me great advice on good anti-spam programs, my problem is somewhat unique. I'm scanning messages within messages, as all of the mail I'm trying to filter comes from the same address (the Listserv processor.) It makes for some interesting challenges in detection and avoiding false detections. I've cleaned up the backlog now (gee, I just thought things were really, really quiet) and corrected the flipped bit. I'll be checking both the approvals and spam folders for some time to ensure this doesn't happen yet again. Cheers, Russ - NTBugtraq Editor -- NTBugtraq Editor's Note: Most viruses these days use spoofed email addresses. As such, using an Anti-Virus product which automatically notifies the perceived sender of a message it believes is infected may well cause more harm than good. Someone who did not actually send you a virus may receive the notification and scramble their support staff to find an infection which never existed in the first place. Suggest such notifications be disabled by whomever is responsible for your AV, or at least that the idea is considered. --
