please do some kind of meeting together!

hi,
usually i don't send this kind of messages, but now...
first of all i realy respect all of you guys who spend their spare time 
and makes something useful for us, contribute for an open source 
project. what's more do the whole project alone. and the situation is 
the same here so please take this mail as a positive critic.
there are many project which try to manipulate files in Bruce Schneier's 
Counterpane Labs, Password Safe database format:

- http://jpws.sourceforge.net/
the only thing what i wan't to be a file which contains my passwords and 
be able to read/edit it both on windows and linux. it may seems to be 
very easy, but it's not. first of all the passwordsafe has no linux 
version. on the other hand when someone use none 7-bit clean chars 
(which is the case in most europien country) the result will me a mess, 
since it's not utf-8 clean. what's more if i use any of the other tools 
which are able to insert such characters and open it again with 
passwordsafe it corrupt other record's notes field. passwordsafe has a 
java version which use swt, but it also doesn't start on linux. 
mypasswordsafe are utf-8 ready:-) the command line pwsafe seems to the 
one which works all the time. jpws (which can be a multiplatform version 
too) do not even open a v2 format file with only a few entry.
so my question:
whouldn't be it possible to take a break, do a meeting, create ONE and 
only one common lib for common functionalities:
- one C and Java crypto lib (blowfish, twofish, shaX etc)
- one C and Java for the different file format handling
and nothing else just the UI part can be different in this case. 
everybody can use and fix the common libs.
then everyone can create a project for the gui part
- windows
- windows mobile
- linux gtk+
- linux qt
- command line (may be common for linux and windows?)
- java with swt
- java with swing
may be i'm too idealistic, but this can save a lot of debugging, and 
coding for everyone which result a faster and better programs for everyone.
