i used redhat 6 in my beginning of my experience with precompiled 
problems :)

updated to redhat 7, and wanted to upgrade to redhat 8, but to no avail, 
too much missed

freshclam is not versions specific, so you should get newest cvd still, 
but clamav does not understand all signatures, so you miss many virus 
mailvare based on this :/

time to upgrade

i do not use default signatures anymore, only 3dr party from 
sanesecurity
