   did you generate a language for it? I've only ever installed Rockbox by 
hand. But there are ready-made languages to download.
   Also, you might want to go tothe settings menu and check the voice settings. 
The player should talk you through the menus by default. But there are 
different settings for reading files and folders.
   Also, I sometimes notice, that my Sansa Clip+ doesn't talk. It only reads my 
prepared talk clips, but nothing else. Yet that happens only at occasions and 
it is usually fixed, by shutting down and starting it again.
   Don't dispair, you will get it talking. I have only bought my Clip+, because 
I have read in advance, that the Sansa Clip series was favoured by blind 
users, for their ease of use, reliability and their good speech support with 
Rockbox.
